Lissom Earth Sciences provides municipal and industrial sludge management, through use of the sludge as a fertilizer and soil conditioning supplement.

Over the past eight years Lissom  has been managing municipal and industrial sludge as a benefit to agricultural production, through use of the sludge as a fertilizer and soil conditioning supplement.

This management procedure has involved:

  1. establishing volumes and chemical characteristics of the sludge to be used.

  2. determining selection parameters for spreading sites.

  3. evaluation of suitable spreading sites.

  4. working with farmer to develop crop production program to maximize nutrient and soil conditioning benefits. This includes type of crop, timing, rotation to be used.

  5. working with local agricultural specialists to evaluate compaction and run-off risks.

  6. monitoring of soil and groundwater to ensure adequate protection and long term protection of the soil and groundwater resource.
