What is a Water Quality Management System?
A system designed to reduce exposure to liability, provide systematic review of water quality data, and provide a comprehensive annual report.
There are several steps in establishing a Water Quality Management System:
- We prepare the baseline program to meet our clients needs
- We prepare a sampling program on documented regulations and guidelines.
- We provide liaison with environmental authorities (Ministry of the Environment, Health Unit, Municipality, etc.)
- We provide training to collect water samples, or provide sampling.
- We provide consultation for selection of accredited laboratories for analyses.
- We systematically review the data and provide the client with periodic reports.
- We compile the data annually and provide the client with a comprehensive report

Why do I need a Water Quality Management System?
A Water Quality Management System is a demonstration of 'due diligence' defined as reasonable care. A successful due diligence system requires:
- the establishment of a system to prevent the occurrence of a particular event;
and
- the undertaking of reasonable steps to ensure the effective operation of the system.
What does the client get?
Water quality data are provided to the client periodically in a report outlining the objectives, the data with interpretation to established regulations and guidelines, as well as recommendations, if required.
How long will it take?
Depending on the complexity of the site and the requirements to be met, setup time can take as little as a couple of days.
How much does it cost?
The Water Quality Management System is designed to be affordable. The client can choose to have Lissom personnel conduct sampling or can have her/his own personnel trained to perform the sampling task.
Lissom Earth Sciences' team of Hydrogeologists, Water Quality Analysts and Licensed Well Technicians can provide design and/or management of programs to meet Ministry of the Environment Regulation 170/03 and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
