Why are LISSOM Flytes® good for my feet?
Great question! One answer is that they are what’s referred to as a ‘minimal shoe’. Essentially the more you stimulate your feet, the stronger they get. As the foot gets stronger the entire body feels more powerful and you may even feel like you are standing a little bit taller. Many people also find they have better movement patterns when they’re wearing minimal shoes.
How much do LISSOM shoes weigh?
Our shoes are ultralight – each one weighs about 100gm – about the weight of a bar of soap. It’s difficult to describe how light they feel compared to other shoes, but people who wear them often have told us they forget they’ve even got them on.
How do they compare to classic ballet flats?
LISSOM Flytes® have the ease of ballet flats but in a much more foot-friendly package. The unique shape of the forefoot (which we call the toebox!) matches the shape of your foot. That allows for a super comfortable fit without putting lots of pressure on your toes. We designed them with the precise amount of cushion to – if we’re going to get technical - damp impact forces while still enabling sensory stimulation. Basically, it’s enough to give you all the support you need, but not so much that your foot can’t sense the ground below.
Are they better for my feet than my sneakers?
Actually, we think LISSOM Flytes® are the perfect marriage between flats and sneakers. Most sneakers over-support the foot, which is counter-productive. LISSOM Flytes® have the perfect amount of support and cushion, allowing your foot to function in a natural way. The ease of slipping on LISSOM shoes makes them practical too; you can slip in and out of them without the need to lace up.
What is a “heel drop” of 8mm?
The heel toe drop measures the height difference between the back of the shoe and the front. The greater the heel drop the greater the pressure on the ball of the foot and the tighter the calves can become. A traditional sneaker has around 12 - 14mm heel toe drop while Flytes® have 8mm heel toe drop. So, you’re not getting the pressure on the ball of the foot, or the calf tension that you can get with a higher heel drop. All feet can tolerate an 8mm toe drop and will most likely find this drop to be the most comfortable.

Are the shoes suitable for flat feet?
Yes, absolutely. Our 8mm heel toe drop makes LISSOM Flytes® suitable for flat feet. In actual fact, our slight heel toe drop can make a flat foot more stable allowing meaning they might even be beneficial. Not all flat feet are the same but they do all require stability. Importantly stability does not need to come from the shoes but rather by strengthening the foot itself. Lissom is dedicated to not only to providing quality footwear but also to championing the importance of natural foot strength.
Are the shoes suitable for high arches?
Yes! LISSOM Flytes®, with their precise amount of cushion, are suitable for the more rigid (stiff) high arched foot. In a high arched foot, a little cushion like ours can help absorb the impact of dynamic movement.
I over-pronate / under-pronate. Can I wear these shoes?
Over-pronation or under-pronation are often associated with flat feet or high arches, both of which are able to wear LISSOM Flytes®. We often think shoes have to do the work for our feet whether it is supporting them or absorbing impact but it’s not true. Our feet are designed to move and do all of the work themselves. They just need shoes that allow them to do what comes naturally. Most traditional shoes are overly supportive or have too much cushion, both of which only serve to weaken our feet. LISSOM Flytes® have the perfect amount of support and cushion, allowing the foot to function naturally.
The uppers of the shoes are so soft and allow my feet to move freely. I feel like because my foot moves around more I could be raising the risk of injury. Is this true?
Your feet are designed to move around so that shoes that restrict movement, no matter how comfy they feel, can actually be counterproductive and create rigidity. Every time the foot moves it is stimulating nerves which is creating a protective response to the foot and ankle. If at first you do feel a little unstable with this much foot motion then gradually increase your time in LISSOM Flytes®. Another great way to improve foot strength to counter the foot movement is to strengthen your feet barefoot. Barefoot exercises are the best way to make your feet strong for shoes.
I have Plantar Fasciitis. Are these shoes suitable for me?
Plantar fasciitis is a painful condition that is caused by insufficient foot strength to take the stress of dynamic movement. LISSOM Flytes, which are designed in conjunction with a Podiatrist, allow the foot to support itself, as a means to make the feet stronger. Then, as you build foot strength, you offset the risk of plantar fasciitis symptoms.
Another great way to ensure proper foot strength to counter plantar fasciitis is with barefoot training.
I have a weak ankle/knee. Are these shoes suitable for me?
Yes. Having weak ankles or knees means you need as much sensory information as possible coming in through the foot to build strength. With LISSOM Flytes® there is just enough cushion to offset impact while still allowing stimulation. Better contact with the ground means better control of impact and stress.
Are LISSOM shoes suitable for bunions?
Yes! Given the super stretchy nature of the uppers, they will accommodate some bunions (depending on size and exact location).
Do LISSOM shoes have removable insoles?
Yes. You can easily remove the insoles to let your Flytes® breathe overnight, and maybe even wash them. We recommend a cold machine wash and air drying.
Can I put my own orthotics into these shoes?
Absolutely, if your orthotics fit into LISSOM Flytes®, there’s no reason you shouldn’t wear them in these shoes. Some orthotics may be bulkier than will feel comfortable in the shoe. But if it feels comfortable to you that’s all that matters.
LISSOM slip-ons have a slight heel. My other minimal shoes are completely flat. What is the reason for this?
Our little nano-heel is designed to bring greater control to the foot while accommodating lots of different foot types. Not all people can wear flats or zero drop shoes because of a history of foot pain or they have a flat foot. Our nano-heel is just enough to have a functional benefit without creating any issues or tightness.
Do LISSOM shoes have toe cleavage?
No. There’s definitely no toe cleavage on show. We’ve designed them to have a chic, sporty look that covers and protects your toes
2 - SIZING
What size am I?
Our shoes are true to size. Please use the sizing guide chart to select the size that is closest to what you normally wear. We use US sizing on our website and provide you with international sizing comparisons on this chart.
Do you sell half sizes?
Great news, we have just launched our brand new half sizes! Our shoes are also super stretchy, in a good way, so they can accommodate different sizes better than restrictive, structured shoes. We would recommend if you're between sizes to go up to the larger size e.g. if you are between a US 6.5 and 7, we would suggest that you order a US 7.
What is the standard width fitting of Lissom shoes?
LISSOM shoes fit a standard width foot. Given the stretchy nature of the shoes, they can accommodate a slightly wider foot. A narrower than standard foot may require an extra insole or wearing a liner sock to ensure the correct fit.
Do they come up small?
LISSOM Flytes are designed to mold to your feet - they may start off a little snug, but will gradually stretch to fit your foot like a glove.
They may start off feeling tight around the toes or the heel before they stretch to the unique contours of your feet. You may be used to feeling a gap between the front of your shoes and your toes - this is not required with our Flyte shoes because of the stretchy nature of the uppers which move with your feet.
We have deliberately designed Flytes to feel tight at the start because if they were loose you wouldn’t experience the unique hugging effect of our shoes. If your shoes don't feel tight, but hold onto your feet perfectly (without slipping out) from the start - then great, you are good to go, and they will feel even better with additional wear.
So long as you are not experiencing any significant discomfort, we would suggest wearing your Flytes for short amounts of time around the house or with socks to gently break them in before extended wear. Our tests show it takes roughly 6 – 9 hours for your Flytes to perfectly mold to the contours of your feet.
Do remember to take a break from wearing your Flytes if you experience any discomfort. If you have any injuries or foot health concerns then always seek medical advice before proceeding to wear Flytes.
Please note it is the customers responsibility to decide whether their Flytes are compatible with their foot needs.
3 - TRAVEL
I'm going on vacation, should I wear Flytes?
As well as having soft and stretchy uppers, Flytes have a special new blend of materials in our innovative non slip soles which make them incredibly light, flexible, and help provide just enough support for each and every step you take - making them ideal for travelling!
How much do Flytes weigh?
Weighing in at just 100gm per shoe, Flytes are unbelievably lightweight (which means you can pack more than one colour and still have lots of extra room in your baggage allowance!).
How can I get my Flytes ready for a trip?
We recommend wearing in your Flytes before extended wear, such as travelling, in order to give them time to gently mold to your foot shape. It is super important to break them in before your trip as it will minimise the chance of getting any discomfort/rubbing.
Can I wear them on cobblestone streets?
Flytes have a precise amount of cushion in the sole to help absorb impact and protect your feet from the forces it is exposed to in every day movement - such as walking on concrete streets and cobblestones. We've had lots of feedback from customers saying that their Flytes have been the perfect accompaniment for walking on cobblestones whilst on vacation.
Are Flytes suitable for hiking?
Flytes are very durable with a non slip sole, ideal for walking on different surfaces and textures. Whilst Flytes are great for general walking, we would recommend the use of specialist hiking shoes for intensive walking/extended wear (particularly over extreme terrain or climbing).
I'm going on a long trip, how do I look after my Flytes whilst I'm away?
We would suggest giving your Flytes a chance to breathe every other day if you're wearing them for extended periods; the great news is both the shoe and the removable insoles are washable (machine wash on cold, and leave to air dry).
Are Flytes suitable for wearing to theme parks?
LISSOM Flytes are a popular choice for visiting a certain magical kingdom (you know the one!) and we've had lots of happy customers tell us that the cushioned sole and stretchy upper helped their feet to walk around the theme park all day! We would recommend wearing them in before wearing, to minimise the chance of rubbing and give your shoes time to mold to your feet.
4 - MATERIALS & CARE
What materials are LISSOM shoes made from?
The uppers are made up of several stretchy layers of lycra and other synthetic materials usually found in performance apparel. Our ultra-light weight, high-grip, super flexible outsole is made of a patented blend of rubber and other traditional running sole synthetics.
Is LISSOM Vegan?
We’re happy to say they are. The sole and upper materials are synthetic and do not contain animal products.
How do I care for my LISSOM shoes?
Great question. The more you know and the better you care for your Flytes® the more you’ll get out of them.
When you first receive them, wear them around the house for a couple of hours and let them mold to your feet. Before long they’ll adjust to fit snugly like a perfect pair of jeans. Pretty soon you’ll forget you’ve got them on.
LISSOM Flytes are machine washable on cold, but we’d always recommend a gentle handwash. Do not use fabric conditioner as this will coat the Lycra with a dull residue. Do not dry shoes in tumble dryer, on a radiator or with any other form of artificial heat. Shoes must be air dried only. Trust us, this is important!
If you just want to give your shoes a little breather, a simpler way is to remove your insoles and let your shoes air overnight. Or because your insoles are washable, doing this regularly will help keep them fresh, and you won’t feel the need to wash the whole shoe quite as often.

Can I order by telephone?
Orders are only able to be placed online, however if you have any issues please contact hello@lissom.com where a customer care representative will be able to assist you with your online purchase.
Can I have my order gift wrapped?
At present we do not offer gift wrapping.
How do I find a specific item on the website?
To look for a specific LISSOM item or page, please enter a query into the search bar on the LISSOM website.
How do I know when an item is in stock? What if an item is out of stock?
All available stock is shown on the website. Please contact hello@lissom.com to register interest for an out of stock item, and you will be sent an email alert when your product is available again.
Can I amend or cancel my order?
Unfortunately we are unable to make changes, including cancellations, to orders after they have been submitted.
6 - GIFT CARDS
Can I buy a LISSOM Gift Card?
Great news! We now offer E-Gift Cards, making it easy to give the gift of LISSOM for any occasion.
How will I receive my E-Gift Card?
Upon order checkout you will instantly receive an email confirming your virtual gift card purchase. This email will contain the link to use your LISSOM E-Gift Card straight away.
(If you do not receive your E-Gift Card confirmation, please check that it has not been sent to your junk or promotions folder before contacting Customer Service).
Can you send the E-Gift Card directly to the recipient?
At present we are only able to send the E-Gift Card to the email used at it's purchase.
How do I check the balance of my E-Gift Card?
Please contact hello@lissom.com and a member of the team will be happy to check the balance of your gift card for you!
Are E-Gift Cards refundable?
E-Gift Cards are not refundable, however the fab news is they don't expire so we're sure you will find the right style for you! Please note that we are unable to reissue gift cards or e-gift cards that have been lost or stolen.
7 - LISSOM ONLINE ACCOUNT
Do I need to set up an account to place an order?
Creating an account with LISSOM will make future purchases quicker and easier, however it is also possible to make an order on lissom.com as a guest.
Do I need to create an account and what are the benefits?
With a LISSOM account you’ll also be able to quickly and easily track an order’s status, view your order history, or edit your account information
What happens after my order has been confirmed?
Thank you for choosing Lissom Flytes®! We have received your order and it’s being processed now. You don’t need to do anything except stand expectantly by your letterbox, but if you do need to get in touch about your order for any reason please email hello@lissom.com and a customer care representative will be happy to help. You will get another little note from us to let you know when they’re on their way.
Why has my online order been cancelled?
During busy periods, such as promotions, demand may outweigh the amount of stock we have and we may not be able to fulfill your order. If this is the case, we will let you know as soon as possible. Please contact hello@lissom.com for further information in these circumstances.
8 - PAYMENT
What payment methods does Lissom accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express through the Worldpay checkout and customers may also opt to use their PayPal account. All currency is charged in USD.
Can I choose the currency I pay in?
At present all orders are charged in USD.
When will payment be deducted after my order has been placed?
Due to demand we can only reserve stock upon order completion and payment.
Therefore payment for your order will be deducted immediately and you will be charged at the time of purchase.
By placing an order with LISSOM you are agreeing to pay the total amount shown at checkout. Discounts cannot be applied to your order after it has been placed.
9 - SHIPPING
How much is shipping?
Great news - we offer FREE Standard US Shipping (3-7 business days from dispatch date) on orders over $50 from our California warehouse in USA. Due to current worldwide shipping delays because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, a small number of products will dispatch directly from our warehouse in Asia for the next 6 weeks (until mid-October 2021). Which countries does Lissom ship to?

How can I track my order?
An email with tracking details will be sent to you once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse. Please enter this number on the nominated parcel carrier’s website to track your order and to sign up for additional tracking alerts via email and SMS.
Can you deliver to an address other than my billing address?
Of course! At the checkout there is the option to have your order delivered to a shipping address which is different to your billing address e.g. home, work, or a family member’s address.
What are the shipping options?

Which courier will be delivering my order?
LISSOM orders to mainland USA are delivered with DHL or USPS Priority.
Do I need to sign for my order?
All US mainland orders do not require a signature upon delivery.
What if my order has arrived faulty or damaged?
At LISSOM we take great pride in the production and delivery of our items. However should you receive an item that is faulty we will gladly replace or refund the items, subject to availability. Please contact hello@lissom.com where a customer care representative will be happy to help you with this.
I’ve only received part of my order?
Occasionally items ordered together may not be available to dispatch in the same shipment. From time to time, items may be out of stock or backordered; you will be alerted in both instances and provided with an approximate date of shipment. If you haven't received your expected order and LISSOM hasn’t already been in touch about the matter, please contact our customer care team at hello@lissom.com
If items in my order ship separately, will I be charged extra for shipping?
Your order may ship in multiple packages, but rest assured that you will not be charged any additional shipping and handling fees. We will always endeavor to pack your items together in the same shipment where possible.
Can I change my shipping address after my order has been submitted?
As we want to get your items to you as soon as possible, we start packing your order as soon as it has been confirmed; this means that is unlikely we can amend the address the order is being shipped to. Please contact our customer care team by email as soon as possible to hello@lissom.com for any shipping address queries and we will try our best to accommodate any address changes if possible.
Will my postage be refunded(if) I return my order?
LISSOM is unable to refund shipping costs.
Please note customers are responsible for return shipping on all orders (including orders covered by the 30 day guarantee).
10 - RETURNS
What is your returns policy for my first pair of Flytes?
Flyte shoes are unlike any other shoe you've worn before. Super light, super flexible and designed to mold to your feet as you wear them in. We're so sure that you'll love our shoes that we want to give you the peace of mind to give them a full road test. If you're not happy with the fit or comfort within 30 days of receiving your first pair of Flytes, we'll accept your shoes in worn condition when you send them back to us and we'll issue you with a refund. This is valid for your first pair only.
My first pair has a 30 day guarantee, what is your returns policy for orders after this?
Our 30 day return guarantee is valid for your first pair of Flytes only; after this we will gladly offer a refund for items returned to us in an unworn condition, within 14 days from the date you received your order. All such returns must be sent back to us in their original packaging.
Can I exchange my first pair of Flytes under the 30 day guarantee?
As of November 1 2018 we no longer offer exchanges on any orders. Due to high demand we are unable to guarantee your exchange will still be available, and we'd hate for you to miss out!
We suggest returning your order for a full refund and re-ordering the preferred size/color you would like to try.
Can I return an exchange under the 30 day guarantee?
Exchanges (processed with LISSOM before November 1 2018) are subject to our standard 14 days returns policy.
Only your first pair of Flytes is covered by the 30 day road test guarantee and all exchanged items must be returned to us in an unworn condition in their original packaging within 14 days of receipt.
LISSOM will not issue a refund for exchanged items which have been worn.
Can I return socks?
Socks are non returnable for hygiene reasons - please check the correct size is selected before purchasing.
How do I return my item?
To arrange a return please email hello@lissom.com with your order details (including order number, full name and items to be returned or exchanged). A LISSOM customer care representative will then email you an RMA number and a returns form to be included with your return. The US mainland returns shipping address will be provided on the form.
What do I need to include with my return?
Items need to be returned in their original packaging.
All returned items must include a fully completed returns form. Please email hello@lissom.com to obtain a returns form. Returns forms must be completed in full with your name, order number and RMA number.
Returned items received without this information will not be processed and we will be unable to authorize a refund or exchange.
What is an RMA number? How do I get an RMA number for my return?
A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is needed for us to be able to process your return. To obtain an RMA number for a return or exchange, please contact hello@lissom.com.
Returned items received without an RMA number will not be processed and we will be unable to authorize a refund or exchange.
Where do I send my return to?
Please contact hello@lissom.com for a returns form. The US mainland returns shipping address will be provided on this form.
LISSOM cannot take liability for items returned to an unauthorized address.
How long do I have to return my order after I have received the RMA number?
Your return must be received by LISSOM within 14 days of the RMA number being issued to you.
If a return is not received within 14 days of the RMA number being issued then LISSOM will not be able to process your return.
Where do I send my return to and am I responsible for the costs?
When you contact hello@lissom.com with your return details, we will send you a return/exchange form with details of a US mainland return address. You are responsible for return postage costs and we strongly recommend using a tracked service. Please make sure to retain proof of postage, as this will be needed in the event of a return being lost. Returns can take up to 10 working days to be processed, but this can vary depending on the speed of service chosen by the customer when shipping.
Return conditions
Returning your first pair:
- Under our 30 day guarantee we will gladly accept your return in a worn condition within 30 days from the date it was received; please note this is only valid for your first pair of Flytes.
All other returns:
- For all subsequent orders (after your first pair,) returns must be in an unworn condition and in the original packaging. Returns must be sent to us within 14 days from the date it was received
Can I return my first pair of Flytes after the 30 day trial period?
We think 30 days is the perfect amount of time to fall in love with your Flytes.
We offer this extended returns policy so you can feel the bounce for yourself and if not fully satisfied you can return them for an exchange or refund - even if they are in a worn condition.
Outside of the 30 day guarantee we are unable to offer a refund.
It's my first order and I ordered more than one pair, are they all covered by the 30 day guarantee?
If purchasing multiple pairs of Flytes on your first order only one pair is eligible for the 30 day road test guarantee. Only one pair from an order of multiple items is eligible to be returned and refunded in a worn condition, all other pairs must be returned in an unworn condition.
How do I cancel my order under the distance selling regulations?
To cancel an order please contact hello@lissom.com. Please note that our dispatch system is automated and we cannot guarantee that we can make order amendments or cancellations after your order has been placed.
Will I be refunded the full value of my order?
LISSOM will fully refund the cost of returned items which meet the returns conditions.
Shipping costs cannot be refunded; please note customers are responsible for return shipping on all orders (including orders covered by the 30 day guarantee).
What if my order is faulty or damaged?
At LISSOM we take great pride in the production and delivery of our items. However should you receive an item that is faulty we will gladly replace or refund the items, subject to availability. Please contact hello@lissom.com where a customer care representative will be happy to help you with this.
Will my return postage be refunded?
Customers are responsible for the cost of return shipping.
Shipping costs cannot be refunded; please note customers are responsible for return shipping on all orders (including orders covered by the 30 day guarantee).
How will I be refunded and how long will it take to receive?
Refunds are credited to the original card or Paypal account that the customer paid with. Refunds can take up to 10 business days to process.
I've lost the returns note, what do I do?
Please email hello@lissom.com for any issues with your returns/exchange form.
How will I know when my order has been refunded?
We will send you an email to let you know that your refund has been processed.
What happens if my parcel gets lost on its return to you?
LISSOM will take no responsibility for items lost in transit and for this reason we recommend using a shipping service that provides tracking information. Returned items are the responsibility of the customer until received at our returns center. Customers are responsible for all shipping costs on returned goods.
11 - 30 DAY RETURN GUARANTEE
Our 30 day promise
Flyte shoes are unlike any other shoe you've worn before. Super light, super flexible and designed to mold to your feet as you wear them in.
This means they might also feel different when you first try them on. They may start off a little tight, or slightly rubbing at the back of your ankle before they stretch to the unique contours of your feet.
But don't worry, this is normal - wear them in for a few days for a couple of hours at a time and before you know it - they'll be comfier than your favourite slippers. We've been through the process ourselves and we know that it's worth it!
We're so sure that you'll love our shoes that we want to give you the peace of mind to give them a full road test. If you're not happy with the fit or comfort within 30 days of receiving your shoes, we'll accept your shoes in worn condition when you send them back to us and we'll issue you with a refund**.

How do I contact Head Office?
